Finch Coasters Running Club
Welcome to Finch Coasters

Finch Coasters is a small and friendly running club based at Finchampstead Sports Club in Finchampstead, near Wokingham, Berkshire. We cover the surrounding area from Arborfield across to Bracknell and Winnersh down to Crowthorne.

Regular club runs take place throughout the week and we can be seen sporting our yellow and blue vests with pride at many local road races, relays and cross-country events. Throughout the winter we compete against local clubs in both the Thames Cross-Country league.

If you want to join us for a run, please feel free to turn up to any of our training venues at the specified times or contact a member of the committee. There's no need to be a member first. On a Thursday night, as many of us as possible try to meet in the Sports Club bar for a drink and a chat, so please come along and join us.

As well as running, we organize a number of annual events such as the Woodland 5 series, the Mud Run and a Club handicap series. We also hold many social events throughout the year including an Annual Dinner Dance, summer BBQs, cheese-and-wine evenings etc. These events are always great fun and well-supported.

Over the next month

Looks like it would have been iffy to have held our cross country today anyway, although it was nice doing a long run in the snow instead. It looked like there was a motorbike race at Warren heath as well.

Committee
Would you like to help run the club/have more say in how we organise
ourselves and our events? We'll be looking for new committee members
now, both Paul Evans, Sarah Evans and Louise Mander will be standing
down as Chairman, Race Secretary and Social Secretary. You can also
apply for any other post as well if you're interested in them too. So
if you'd like to take on these important posts then please let us know and we'd be happy to talk you
through what is involved. They don't take up a lot of time and we are all busy people but have managed to find the time to do the roles for several years. Please remember that this is your club and it can only function if you help to contribute to its running so
please volunteer to help.

Summer events
Is anyone interested in a separate camping weekend, possibly over the
August bank holiday in the Forest of Dean?

Membership
Just an early reminder that membership will be due by the end of March
so we will produce the new form at the beginning of March. Can you
please complete it and return it promptly then.

London marathon coach
Sandhurst Joggers are running their usual coach to the London marathon this year. Anyone interested in a plcae shoudl get in touch with them via Rob Hewison. They only have limited spaces available though.

Lee's coaching classes
Don't forget that every Friday at 6:30pm Lee Avery runs a coaching
class from Bracknell Sports Centre. Anyone can take part in these as
she sets up the class suit your own personal needs and capabilities.
Don't think that you're not fit enough for them as they are ideal for
beginners to help improve as she focusses on how to improve technique.
They're only £3.50 a time and are great value for money.

Finchamsptead Sports Club
The football club will be holding a night with John "Chopper" Harris
on Saturday 14th April if anyone is interested. tickets are £5 and can
be bought from the Sports club.

Off road run this week
Can you please arrange to car share as the car park by the cross country start is very small and last time we were there it had a leather sofa parked in it too! We'll be running our cross country route (ish) so if you haven't done it before now is an ideal opportunity to try it out. Please ask if you don't know where the car park is.

Our cross country has unfortunately had to be cancelled. Thank you to
all of those who offered to make food for it and help marshal but it
won't be needed now.

However, we will still need support to marshal at the Woodland 5 races
during the summer. Dates for these are 30th May, 27th June, 25th July.
